Bilingual Women's Safety Workshop

  • The House of Neighborly Service 243 West 33rd Street Tucson, AZ, 85713 United States (map)

As part of the YWCA’s Week Without Violence, we invite you to join us for a free, bilingual (English/Spanish) workshop dedicated to empowering women in Southern Arizona with the tools they need to protect themselves and their loved ones every day. This dynamic, hands-on workshop is designed to build confidence and equip participants with essential life skills for personal safety and peace of mind.

Together, we will explore and practice the following critical areas:

  • Personal and Environmental Awareness: Learn how to sharpen your awareness to identify and avoid potentially dangerous situations and individuals before problems arise.

  • De-escalation Techniques: Discover proactive ways to diffuse tense situations and prevent violence, equipping yourself with the skills to respond calmly and effectively.

  • "Stun & Run" Physical Defense Tactics: Master quick, efficient self-defense moves that can help you escape dangerous situations and get to safety swiftly when needed.

This empowering workshop is open to all women and will provide a supportive, inclusive environment to practice and grow these vital skills. Together, let’s take steps towards building a safer, more confident community.

About Week Without Violence / Semana Sin Violencia

YWCA is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families, and strengthen communities. For more than 20 years, we have set aside one week in October as a Week Without Violence – a week to raise awareness and engage action to end the broad spectrum of violence – as part of a global movement with World YWCA to end violence against women and girls.

At YWCA, we know that not all violence is acknowledged or responded to equally and that some victims go unrecognized altogether. That’s why we focus on ending gender-based violence, including domestic violence, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, trafficking, and harassment.
